Description

Description

Physalis Organic Ricinus (Castor) Oil is a viscous, light yellow oil that is extracted from the seeds of the castor beans, a tree plant native to Africa and which currently grows in all tropical regions of the globe. It is very rich (up to 90%) in ricinoleic acid glycerides (ω9).

  • Castor oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acidwhich acts as humectants to moisturize the skin. Humectants retain moisture by preventing water loss through the outer layer of the skin.
  • Castor oil is also used to treat wounds since it stimulates tissue growth so that a barrier can be formed between the wound and the environment, decreasing the risk of infection.
  • It also reduces dryness and cornification, the buildup of dead skin cells that can delay wound healing.
  • The pain-reducing and anti-inflammatory qualities of castor oil may be particularly helpful to reduce swelling and puffiness of inflamed pimples or eye bags. Also beneficial to those with rheumatoid arthritis or psoriasis.
  • Castor oil has antimicrobial properties that may help fight bacterial overgrowth when applied to the skin and as a result help treat acne and other skin problems.
  • Castor oil can also be used as a natural hair conditioner especially for dry or damaged hair to increase flexibility and decrease the chance of breakage, also helpful to prevent dandruff.
  • Physalis Ricinus Oil is certified organic, free from any chemicals or impurities, safe even for sensitive skin.
  • Made in Belgium.

How to use

How to use

  • Castor oil is thick and will take time to be fully absorbed by the skin. Diluting the oil with another lighter carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil can help absorption into the skin faster.
  • Dilute castor oil with other oil in the ratio of 1:1. Mix well.

(When you need to mix this product together with other products, please choose organic options. Most of the other products are available in this Organic Times shop too!)
